We Launched ClipForge AI on Product Hunt Yesterday
On April 17, 2026, ClipForge AI went live on Product Hunt.
We finished with [UPVOTES] upvotes and ranked [RANK].
This is the full behind-the-scenes breakdown of how the launch was built, what the real numbers looked like, and what anyone planning a SaaS launch in 2026 should know before they go live.
What ClipForge Is (For Anyone New Here)
ClipForge AI is a video repurposing platform built for creators and content teams. You upload a long-form video — a podcast, webinar, YouTube video, interview — and ClipForge uses AI to detect the highest-performing segments, add captions, reframe for vertical formats, and export directly to TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and LinkedIn. One source video becomes five to fifteen platform-ready clips without a frame of manual editing.
The product is live at clip-forge.io with a 14-day free trial.
Why Product Hunt, Why Now
Product Hunt is not primarily a conversion channel for SaaS. The products that treat it as their growth engine get disappointed. The ones that treat it as a milestone marker — public proof that the product exists, is real, and has users — get what PH actually delivers.
For Strategia-X, the April 17 date was deliberate. ClipForge had cleared the core feature threshold (multi-platform export, AI clip detection, transcript editing, auto-captioning). The affiliate program launched two weeks prior. A PH listing with affiliate infrastructure means PH-sourced signups have an immediate path to becoming distribution.
That is the compounding bet: a PH launch drives a user cohort, the affiliate program converts that cohort into a referral network, and the referral network drives the next cohort.
15 Days of Preparation
The preparation window opened on April 2 — 15 days before launch.
Week 1 (April 2–7): Product Hunt draft created. All assets produced: tagline, product description, first-comment founder story, six gallery screenshots. Content calendar for April 14–16 finalized with creator and repurposing themes to warm the audience before the launch.
Week 2 (April 8–14): Gallery images uploaded to PH draft. Supporter outreach started April 7 (D-10) across three tiers: existing paying users, community and newsletter audience, and PH reciprocity contacts. All outreach was direct and personal — no mass blast.
Launch minus 24 hours (April 16): Social posts written and queued. This blog post drafted as a template, ready to publish with real numbers on April 18. Email sequence updated with a PH-cohort variant for April 17 signups.
Launch day (April 17): First posts went live at 12:05 AM PT. PH days reset at midnight Pacific — the first 2 hours establish trajectory in the daily ranking.

What Worked
The first-comment founder story. The pinned comment on the PH listing is the highest-leverage piece of content in the launch. It is the first thing a visitor reads after the product description. We spent two hours writing it. It worked.
Pre-aligned content calendar. The April 14–16 blog posts across ClipForge and Strategia-X were chosen to prime the audience on video repurposing themes before the PH page appeared. Organic traffic was already elevated before the PH spike arrived.
Affiliate program timing. Launching the affiliate program two weeks before PH meant that PH-sourced trial signups received an email on day one explaining how to earn from ClipForge. This cohort converted at [TRIAL_TO_PAID]% within 72 hours — above baseline.
Pacific midnight start. Being organized at midnight is underrated. Many launches announce mid-morning, losing 8–10 hours of the voting window.
What We Would Do Differently
Earlier outreach. D-10 (April 7) was our supporter DM start. D-21 or earlier would have given more lead time for slow inboxes and more relationship-building with other makers before launch day.
A 60-second demo video. PH listings with demo videos consistently outperform image-only listings. We had screenshots. Next launch includes a screen recording walkthrough.
Reddit pre-warming. r/editors, r/youtubers, and r/contentcreation had seen zero ClipForge mentions before April 17. Two or three authentic posts in the weeks prior would have meant warmer traffic from those communities.
What Happens Next
The [SIGNUPS_DAY] users who signed up on April 17 are tracked as a distinct cohort. Their activation rate, trial-to-paid conversion, and 90-day retention are the metrics that determine whether this launch actually mattered.
A PH ranking with 80% churn in 30 days is not a win. [SIGNUPS_DAY] signups with strong trial conversion and retention is a platform.
We will publish a 30-day cohort update in mid-May with the actual retention curve.
